I hope Brendan would't mind if I share his story.
It shows that Andy is still living (see the dates in the dialog), but question is if he has the priorities sorted the right way. Sad

Thought id let you post whats relevant.

Thanks again
Brendan

Brendan,

Thanks for contacting us. We had some initial production hiccups that have been ironed out, and will be all caught up on pre-orders this week. I'd love the opportunity to get a printer out to you still, and can have one shipped tomorrow (Monday). If that's OK with you, please let me know and we'll get it shipped. Otherwise, we can issue the refund.

Thanks for getting back to me Andy!

Sorry to hear about the hiccups, I know first hand it can be problematic. I'd still love to get my hands on an MPrinter. Thank you for shipping it today, my automated greenhouse is awaiting its impelementation.

Great, we'll be getting it out for you today. I upgraded the shipping to FedEx Express Saver which should save a day.

Without knowing the details of your project, I assume there may be some hardware involved. The current firmware doesn't support it yet, but there are exposed I/O pins on the main control board that will allow for input/output and interfacing with other physical devices. In the coming weeks we'll make them interact with mPrints.

Let me know if you have any questions or there is anything I can help with once you receive your printer.

Great to hear about the pins and thank you for the shipping. I received it and have been playing lots but the print quality is very streaky. Is there a remedy for this?

Ideally I'd like to wake up have have the previous days greenhouse stats printed off.

Thanks again

Brendan,

Can you send a photo of a print? We test each printer three times prior to shipping, so something may have happened. You can also try opening the lid, and lightly wiping the glass print head (it has a slight copper color) with an alcohol wipe or lint-free cloth with alcohol.

Let's try that first and go from there.

Hey Andy, wiped it down with an alcohol wipe but sadly didn't see much improvement. I hope I'm not just expecting to much but the pictures from kickstarter led me to believe pretty good print quality. Attached is a picture,

Thanks again,
Brendan

That does look abnormal. Let's go ahead and swap out the print head for you. What is your mailing address? I'll generate a return label for you so we can get it repaired.

You should receive an email directly from FedEx with a prepaid return label. Please just put the printer (without the AC adapter, cords, or extra paper) in the original box and take it to any FedEx dropoff location. They can put the printed out return label into a sleeve for you and you'll be all set. We'll get it repaired and shipped back for you as soon as we get it.

Brendan,

It was via USPS first class so I don't have any specific tracking information. We have had numerous issues with USPS losing packages recently and have moved to a new system with them. I will send you an additional unit tomorrow when the post office is open via insured Priority Mail with tracking. You will receive a tracking number once we do our shipping tomorrow.

Thank you Andy for your reply. Sorry to hear about the USPS issues. Not sure if it'd fit but the flat rate boxes are well priced and have tracking/insurance included.

Hi Andy,

I received the printer and promptly started using. I got 2 good prints and now I hear the noise of the printer but the paper does not move. Please advise

That's a bummer, Badger. I sent Andy an email back in the spring (maybe summer?) about the shipment status and he pushed mine out shortly after. I haven't had too many issues other than a few paper jams. I wish he would more actively update the mPrinter blog so we could all have an idea where it's heading. Communication seems to be an issue.

The domain name is scheduled to expire on June 30th, so we'll see if he renews it or if he's actually abandoned the project.

On the bright side, I got mine off of eBay for a couple of dollars and got it working with a CUPS driver on the Mac (now if I can just find a working driver in Windows)
